How it reads your messages

  1. 1.

    Line by line. Each line is read on its own. WhatsApp export prefixes (date, time, sender) are separated out automatically.

  2. 2.

    Noise removed first. Phone numbers, UTR and reference numbers, dates and times are set aside so they aren't mistaken for flats or amounts.

  3. 3.

    Flat and amount. Amounts marked with ₹, Rs, INR or /- — or following words like “paid” or “received” — are strong signals. So are flats like A-204 or “Flat 302”. Plain numbers are used only when there's no doubt.

  4. 4.

    Confidence. High when a strong signal was found, Medium when the row depends on the order of plain numbers, and Needs review whenever something is missing, doubled, or unclear. Nothing ambiguous is guessed.

Privacy and limits

  • Your messages never leave your browser. They aren't uploaded, stored, logged, or sent to any AI service.
  • This is a parsing tool, not an accounting system. Review every row against your bank statement before entering it in the society's books.
  • One payment per line works best. Lines with more than one flat or amount are marked for review.
  • Lines without an amount (greetings, media, reminders) are skipped — you can see every skipped line and why.

How do I export a WhatsApp chat?

In the group, open the menu → More → Export chat → Without media, and open the .txt file. Or just copy the payment messages and paste them in.

Are my messages sent to a server or an AI?

No. The parser is plain code that runs on your device. Nothing you paste is uploaded, saved, or included in analytics.

Why is a row marked “Needs review”?

Because something was unclear — no flat number, two possible amounts, an unusually large or small amount, or a possible duplicate. The reason is shown on the row, and you can correct it before downloading.

Can I open the result in Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Download the CSV, or use Copy table and paste straight into a sheet.
